Banding and Creating Opportunities Together – A Singapore Effort
January 7, 2009Singaporean companies, under the guidance of International Enterprise Singapore’s iPartners Programme, are encouraged to band together and pursue international projects. This approach would allow them to combine resources, provide holistic solutions, achieve economic of scale and have a higher chance of success.

Since October 2003, IE Singapore had facilitated 34 iPartners consortia in various industries, targeting sales amounting to S$3.27 billion in overseas sales over the next five years.
All consortia under this programme are lead by anchor companies, which presumably would play the role as network leaders and would orchastrate the activities of the companies in their groups. In addition to this, IE Singapore acts as external facilitator and provide support in enabling the consortia to expand their businesses overseas.
This is an example of the application of the network-centric competition concept in enhancing competitiveness of the companies in the consortia through combination of resources and leveraging on the strengths of individual companies to create greater capacity for the group as a whole. Since they are competing in the global market where competition would come from bigger companies with hugh resource bases, the collaboration between companies in the iPartners programme would provide them with higher chances to be successful.
[...] is similar to the effort made by Singapore as earlier discussed at this [...]
